Cameroon-Germany Cooperation: Valentin Katzer Leaving Cameroon

The First Secretary and Head of Cooperation at the German Embassy in Cameroon, whose term of office came to an end, paid his respects to Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey, MINEPAT, on Tuesday 18 June 2024.

The audience between the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development and his guest lasted almost an hour. It was a farewell audience that enabled both personalities to review the economic cooperation between Yaounde and Berlin. Alamine Ousmane Mey and the German diplomat commended the excellent partnership between Cameroon and Germany. This has been extended in recent years, with innovations such as the intensification of communication actions and the organisation of the German-Cameroonian Cooperation Day in December 2022 in Yaounde.
“The meeting with the Minister of the Economy provided us with an opportunity to bid farewell. It also gave us a chance to express gratitude to the Minister and his team for the excellent collaboration we have enjoyed over the past four years. Together, we have advanced German-Cameroonian cooperation at several levels, in line with the guidelines of the NDS30”, Valentin Katzer told the press at the end of the audience.
It should be noted that this audience comes just a few days after end of the intergovernmental German-Cameroon consultations, which took place on 13 June 2024 in Yaounde. During the meeting, both parties signed the 2023 technical cooperation agreement, worth 40 million euros, some 26.2 billion CFA. To date, the cooperation portfolio totals 453.25 million euros, some 297 billion CFA francs, earmarked for financing development projects in various areas in Cameroon, such as health, rural development, decentralisation, public finance, etc.
