Both parties voiced their willingness to enhance their economic cooperation, on Monday 24 June 2024 in Yaounde. This was during an audience granted by the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Mr. Alamine Ousmane Mey, to the Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon, H.E. Lorraine Anderson.
Yaounde and Ottawa are keen to deepen their economic partnership. This was the thrust of the audience between the Minister of the Economy and the Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon. “This was an opportune moment for us to discuss how Canada can assist Cameroon on its development path, notably in terms of investment”, the Canadian diplomat told the press after the audience.
Alamine Ousmane Mey also seized the opportunity of their meeting to present to his guest the Cameroon government’s investment priorities and objectives under the guidelines of the NDS30.
H.E. Lorraine Anderson expressed her country’s interest in lending support to Cameroon in the fields of infrastructure, digitisation, agri-food, and artificial intelligence, sectors where Canada has recognised expertise. The Canadian diplomat also wished that Cameroon pursue efforts towards improving the business environment to attract more Canadian investors.
