With the Minister Delegate of the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, in charge of Planning, Mr Paul Tasong in the lead, the 7th International Africa Development Forum saw the active and successful participation of Cameroon.
One of the highlights of Cameroon’s attendance at the Forum, which was held from 27 to 28 June 2024 in Casablanca, was the “Talk” by the Minister Delegate in MINEPAT, Mr. Paul Tasong. During an interactive session with a moderator (Country Pitch), the Head of the Delegation from Cameroon brilliantly presented all the opportunities to do business that our country offers in terms of hospitality and attractiveness, highlighting major reforms initiated by the Government to improve private investment in Cameroon; and showcasing flagship overarching projects underway in Cameroon, among others. This exchange, which lasted approximately 20 minutes, was broadcast on the communication platforms of the Al Mada Investment Fund and Attijariwafa Bank, promoters of the Forum.
During the event, Cameroon was also honoured through the work of young Cameroonian entrepreneur Ms Ako Joëlle Agborndang, CEO of the start-up ICLAN Innovative. She won third prize in the Young Entrepreneurs Trophies organised by the Al Mada Foundation. The prize was officially presented at the closing ceremony of the 7th edition of FIAD, in the presence of close to 2,500 participants.
Cameroon also excelled at this International Forum on African Development with its exhibition stand, located not far from that of the host country. This strategic positioning undoubtedly boosted the number of visitors, the majority of whom were business leaders interested in investment opportunities in Cameroon.
On the sidelines of the proceedings, Minister Paul Tasong held meetings with key figures such as Mohamed El Kettani, Chairman and CEO of the Attijariwafa Bank Group; Philippe Richard, Managing Director of Lafarge Holcim Maroc Afrique; Mhammed Chaudri, Chairman and CEO of the Chaudri Group and many others. These meetings set the stage for potential future collaborations and increased investments in Cameroon.
Under the auspices of King Mohamed VI, FIAD 2024 has once again confirmed its pivotal role in fostering intra-African investment cooperation. For Cameroon, this forum was a valuable opportunity to bolster its economic relations and open up avenues for new investment in Cameroon. The support of H.E Mohamadou Youssifou, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cameroon to the Kingdom of Morocco, gave our country a higher profile at this major continental event.
