Stakeholders Validate the Action Dialogue’s Roadmap for Effective Development Cooperation.                                              

The Technical Advisor number 2 to the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Professor Christian Abolo Mbita, has chaired the Strategic Validation workshop of the Action Dialogue’s Roadmap for improving the effectiveness of Development Cooperation in Cameroon this 8th December 2022 at Mont Febe Hotel in Yaounde.

 

The workshop that saw the validation of this roadmap also had as main objective: formulating key messages from Cameroon for the Partnership Effectiveness Summit scheduled for December 12-14, 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland. It brought together members from the different development sectors in the Country as well as foreign partners.

The representative of the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Professeur Abolo Mbita who is also the Technical Advisor number 2 to MINEPAT, explained that the sector diagnoses on the situation of the partnership in the seven development sectors of Cameroon, made it possible to highlight the problems which hinder the effectiveness of development cooperation in the different sectors and the recommendations made in the roadmap should enable the Government and its development partners to better exploit the full potential of development cooperation while improving its efficiency, to build back better after COVID-19 and accelerate progress towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Co-chairing the work-shop with Professor Abolo Mbita, was the Regional Representative of UNESCO for Central Africa, Mr Paul COUSTÈRE who represented the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Cameroon; amongst others he reiterated that an effective, efficient, and sustainable partnership is a precondition for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and that collective outcomes of the National Development Strategy 2020-2030, as well as the SDGs remain our common goals as we focus on transitioning from aid effectiveness to development effectiveness. He also expressed firm conviction that the roadmap for an effective partnership, will further enrich the actions of Multi-stakeholder Partnership Committee (CMP) platform.
Amongst the many observations made by participants, was the remarck of the representative of Civil Society, Mme Andela, who urged that emphasis be put on the optimal use of the strengthened partnership through this roadmap and that effective follow-up be done to ensure and evaluate the concrete results in the end.
