
The Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development
Alamine Ousmane Mey, Cameroonian, was born in 1966 in Kousseri in the Far-North Region of Cameroon. He is married and father of three children.
His primary and secondary studies in Garoua were crowned by the Certificate of Primary Studies, BEPC, Probatoire and the Scientific Baccalaureat.
He completed his university studies at Aachen’s Polytechnic University in Germany where he graduated with a degree in Electronic Engineering. He later obtained certificates in SME financing in developing countries from the University of Antwerp in Belgium, including training in equity and venture capital financing in Tunisia.
His professional experience included a stint at CCEI Bank, now Afriland First Bank. In 18 years of service with this bank, he held several leading positions, including Credit Analyst, Manager of Research and Investments, Deputy Managing Director, and Managing Director from 2003 to 2011.He entered the Government in December 2011 as Minister of Finance, a position which he occupied for seven (7) years. Since 2 March 2018, he is Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development. He is fluent in French, English and German. He has attended many seminars and workshops in Cameroon and abroad, both as a speaker and mere attendant. He chairs several boards and steering committees.
Mr. Alamine Ousmane Mey was made Commander of the National Order of Valour.
