Cameroon-Islamic Development Bank: More than 21 billion CFAF for the reconstruction of the North-West and South-West Regions.

The Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey, together with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Dr Muhmmad Al Jasser, signed on Wednesday 10 May 2023, the Funding Agreement for the implementation of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North-West and South-West Regions of Cameroon (PPRD).

 

 

The signing of this funding agreement worth 32.250 million euros, or approximately 21.155 billion CFA francs, took place on the side-lines of the 48th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), which is being held in Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 10 to 13 May 2023.
This funding, intended for the implementation of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North-West and South-West Regions, aims to support the Cameroon Government efforts to rebuild and rehabilitate essential infrastructure, strengthen social cohesion and revive local economy in these two Regions.
On the occasion of the signing of this Loan Agreement, the Minister of Economy, on behalf of the Head of State, His Excellency Paul BIYA, the Government and the people of Cameroon Planning and Regional Development expressed the gratitude of the Government of Cameroon to the IDB Authorities for their solidarity and irreplaceable assistance to Cameroon’s development efforts.
