The Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Alamine OUSMANE MEY granted an Audience to the Representative and Country Director of the World Food Program (WFP) in Cameroon, Wanja KAARIA this 09 July 2024 in Yaounde.

Speaking to the Press after the more than an hour audience, the Representative and Country Director of the World Food Program (WFP) in Cameroon, Wanja KAARIA, disclosed that their discussions centered on her 4 year term in Cameroon and her collaboration with Minepat, but also on the recent Study of The Cost of Hunger in Africa (COHA) which the World Food Programme and the MINEPAT team have been undertaking.

The Minister of the Economy, Alamine OUSMANE MEY, and his host equally discussed the finalization of the report of the study and its significance in really raising the profile of improving malnutrition in Cameroon. “We were discussing its significance and importance in policy formulation around improving the vision and the contents of the SND30 that is now being discussed and reviewed”, declared Wanja KAARIA.

Note that the Multisectoral Technical Team for the Study on the Cost of Hunger in Africa (COHA) in Cameroon, under the coordination of MINEPAT and with the technical and financial support of the World Food Programme (WFP) and the African Union Commission, completed the study report project. The draft report was reviewed and technically validated by the various sectorial administrations at national level; and by the experts of the WFP African Union Regional Commission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
One of the next steps of this study is the official launch of the report of the COHA study in Yaoundé, with the aim of raising awareness among political and economic actors on the challenges of promoting nutritional security in Cameroon.
